Tuesday evening the Marian Mustangs completed week ones make up dual’s meet races. They were shortened to one run races as they were done as a double header with week 4 races.
With senior captain Olivia Weymouth back in action the Mustang’s easily swept all three meets. Olivia easily out paced the boys and girls in the GS competition with a 17.11 finish time winning by 1.0 seconds. Olivia went on to win the single run slalom race by a staggering 3.15 seconds. Marian’s other GS scorers included fast first year Junior racer Tessy Klein in 12th overall, junior Emily Anschuetz taking 22nd, and sophomore Ainsle Vanneste in the fourth postion at 24th overall.
The Mustang’s valuable SL scoring efforts came from Ainsle Vanneste in her best finish of the season of 12th overall. Tessy Klein scored again in the third spot with a 13th overall only 0.02 back of her teammate. Emily Anschuetz was the final scorer in 16th overall.
Marian brought up two hot freshman coming off very fast finishes in the JV Don Thomas Cup. Lauren Dee took 21st overall in SL and 36th in GS. Lauren was the fifth finisher in both disciplines for the Mustangs. Katelyn Triemstra was also quick finsihing 38th overall in GS and 61st in SL.
The Mustang’s return to action in the rescheduled Alpine Valley Division Championships on Friday where they look to qualify for the SEMSL Championships and wrap up a division championship.
