Marian High School 3rd 29

The Mustang’s annual scrimmage with northern powerhouse Petoskey and Harbor Springs ski teams at Nubs Nob was once again a great preview of many State Championship hopefuls.

Marian had a few struggles in the deep fresh soft snow. Senior captain Olivia Weymouth had a very fast first run end in a hike, leaving her in 11th after run one. She rebounded with an easy second run win taking her into the top five overall and top scorer for Marian. Emily Anschuetz, (junior) lead Marian after the first run by three seconds in 7th. Her second run was also a solid effort making her the seconded scorer. Tessy Klein continues to make the most of her first season as a ski racer. Tessy (junior) finished in 8th overall. Junior Ainsle Vanneste was the teams final scorer only 0.05 behind Tessy in 9th overall.

The Mustang’s JV ran simultaneously with the varsity and the Marian girls were impressive. They took 3rd through 9th overall in the JV top ten scoring. They were led by sophomore Lauren Dee, co-freshmen Katelyn Triemstra, and Emily Anton.

The Mustang’s return to action with the make up GS race from last week on Tuesday evening.

The JV Mustang’s have their Don Thomas Championship race on Friday.
