The Mustangs extended their winning streak by taking both wins Tuesday night. Marian hasn’t lost since splitting wins in the first week. The Mustang’s take an 8-1 league record into the Division Championships Thursday.
Slalom has been the strength of the team this season but on this night it was a struggle. Several of the top SL girls hiked, DNF’d or DSQ’d to start the night. While some struggled others reached up to cover for their teammates difficulties. Senior Captain Tessy Klein took her best SL finish of the season with a 7th overall. Senior Emily Anschuetz also scored her best SL result with an 11th overall. In 12th overall was surging sophomore Regan Condit who’s recent results have been strong. In only her second varsity start sophomore Emily Day became the final scoring athlete by finishing 29th.
While GS has been more difficult this season, like at the CHSL Champs, it proved to be a strength. Marian had a scant one point lead after SL on both challengers. On this night there were five athletes all finishing well. Junior Lauren Dee once more led scoring with a 9th overall. Tessy Klein continued her quick GS skiing in 11th. Emily Anschuetz maintained her strong day in 13th overall. And the final scorer was sophomore Katelyn Triemstra who has been having a breakout year taking 16th.
Marian returns to action Thursday morning at the Alpine Valley Divisional Championships.
