The Mustangs had to persevere after a difficult first run of GS. With a hike and DNF in run one it meant the four scoring athletes needed to repeat that success in run two to end the day on a positive note. For good measure the athlete who hiked put a strong second run in just in case there was a need. There was not a need and the Mustangs finished with a 72 point lead over the next team behind them.
The day started on a strong note with the team scoring second overall in slalom. Junior Laruen Dee lead the team with a 6th overall. Tessy Klein, senior captain, just missed out on the top ten finishing with 11th overall. Barely behind was sophomore Regan Condit in 12th overall and senior Emily Anschuetz rounded out the scoring in 14th.
Taking third in the GS team scoring with the struggles highlighted the success of several racers. The afternoon racing saw Tessy Klein take 8th overall. Lauren Dee was 16th. Emily Anschuetz took 19th and Kara Sigler took the final scoring spot with a 31st.
The Mustangs return to competition next Tuesday at Mt. Holly after qualifying for the SEMSL Championships.
