After a tepid first half performance, Marian's Varsity Lacrosse kicked it into high gear in the second half and pulled away from a hard-working Grosse Pointe North team to earn a 17-7 victory on the road.
Senior Allie Wilberding was dominant on defense as she continues to lead the team in caused turnovers. She caused four GPN turnovers with her stick checks and also had an interception and scooped up multiple ground balls.
Marian's 17 goals came from 7 players with Senior co-captain KK Henneghan leading the charge with 6 goals. Junior midfielder Caroline Forester had 4 goals and 3 assists. Senior co-captain Courtney Hellyar had 2 goals and 4 assists.
Senior midfielder Caroline Christie had 1 goal and 1 assist and Gretchen Klein scored an unassisted goal in the second half.
Freshmen Sarah Peterson and Colleen Grombala had 2 goals and 1 goal, respectively.
5-time defending champion Marian opens up the Catholic League Championship tournament this Wednesday at home against Sacred Heart.
